A live stream of F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor, and Jean Sibelius' Symphony no. 1, courtesy of the hr-Sinfonieorchester, today the 5th November 2021, airing in a few hours.
Enjoy π€
Well, that was a delightful evening! ππ
Mendelssohn was beautiful and tender...
And Sibelius...? Well, Sibelius is always glorious! (my only complaint, though, is that the harp was most of the time drowned by the orchestra, which is the case in all the recordings I listened to anyways, so it's a moot pointπ€·ββοΈ).

n. b. I learnt about Jean-Marie Leclair for the first time tonight! Hoopes and associate concertmaster Florin Iliescu played an encore identified by a commentator as an excerpt of his sonatas for two violins, which I intend to look up. Excellent baroque stuff π.
