Is there a way to hide some text in a post, so that readers have to click to see it? For example, I want to write about a new opera I’ve seen, but I don’t want to spoil the plot for those who haven’t seen it.

Yes, you can place one (or more) spoiler alert in both posts and replies. Here’s how:
1. Click the Spoiler button on the toolbar, type a title for the spoiler in the Insert Spoiler box, and click/tap OK. You'll see your title text inserted into your post surrounded by spoiler tags:
2. Click between the square braces, thus:
and type in the text you want to hide.
3. Continue to type the rest of your post.
Here's an example of how such a post will look:
And here's a spoiler for you to try - just click the arrow beside it
Spoiler
to discover
the hidden secret.
And you're
Spoiler
not limited to
a single spoiler in a post.
