The only way that I've found is to post it then promptly delete it.

I think the answer may be that deleting the content of the draft is sufficient. This leaves the page exactly as it was before I started to reply.

Simply navigate away from the post/reply. Replies are only saved when you tap the Post or Add Reply button. There’s also a Save Draft option you can use if you wish to return to a reply later.
