Good long discussion of the conductor in today’s NY Times. Not sure if this link will work.

Yes, that's the one. I read it too. Couldn't decide whether to put it in the Musical Controversies sub-forum or here. Bertie beat me to it. 

An interesting, nuanced take on Furtwängler. It's a perennial theme in the arts: can you separate the art from the artist? I think you can, provided that the art or is creation itself isn't problematic. A fine line, sometimes.
