Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music and musicians died on 22 November 230 AD in Sicily; today is her feast day.
Numerous works have been composed in her honour. One of my favourites is Purcell’s Welcome to all the Pleasures:

(Purcell’s other tribute, Hail Bright Cecilia is also on this recording)
Benjamin Britten was born on St Cecilia Day, 22 November 1913 in Lowestoft. Happy Birthday Britten! It seems fitting today to play his Hymm to St Cecilia, a setting of words by W.H.Auden:

And finally, today is also the birthday of the great English pianist and composer Stephen Hough. I’m not sure Mr Hough has composed a work in honour of his patron saint, but no doubt he will be celebrating today with a feast of music and cake. Happy 60th, Stephen! 🎶 🎂 🥂
I haven't heard this recording, @jen. Putting at the top of my list today. (BTW, I have a bunch of Idagio playlists called Jen, Dinah, Clive, Hugh and so on, where I place each person's recommendations. I wish Idagio had a better way of storing things - categories and sub-folders within playlists would be lovely.)
To honour Stephen Hough (I know I'm a day late) I'll play some of his Saint-Saëns performances.
I haven't tried Idagio yet. Apple is still working for me. Does Idagio allow albums and works to be shown in playlists as individual items? This was one of my top enhancement requests for Primephonic.
