I had pre-ordered this CD box set, Astor Piazzolla - The American Clavé Recordings, from Nonesuch, and it was worth the wait.

Really beautiful contemporary tango!

The set contains three remastered albums from the 80's. The albums are: Tango: Zero Hour (English title, 1986), La Camorra (1989), and The Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night (1991).

I don't see the title on Idagio. I wonder if it was only released in the US?

I’m fond of Piazzolla’s tangos, too, but, like you, have not been able to find these recordings on Idagio 🤷🏻‍♀️

Perhaps my favourite of Piazzolla’s works is Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.  Here’s an excellent performance by Gidon Kremer, interleaved with its inspiration:

On the subject of Tango, how about Stravinsky’s delightful take? This is Stravinsky conducting his own orchestral arrangement:

And, among this week’s new releases, is an appealing version for piano:

I hadn't come across nuevo tango before. Most enjoyable. Thank you, Tim.
