Here's a job listing for a UX designer at Apple to work on the "Classical Music Team". The job description seems to confirm that Apple intends to keep its classical offering in a separate app rather than incorporate everything into the existing Apple Music app. This is good news, I think. I wonder, too, if they intend to keep the Primephonic branding - it's not entirely clear from the wording.
I find it encouraging to see some evidence that there is work going on in the background giving me hope that something will actually be released next year.
That is, indeed, encouraging. Β Thanks for sharing @Paul!
(And what an interesting looking position? Though Iβm slightly disappointed that key requirements include a passion for Apple and its productsβ¦ but no mention of an interest in classical music π€·π»ββοΈ)
Thanks, Paul. Very interesting.
"Amsterdam" ... presumably indicates that at least some of the Primephonic team are involved.
"useful to billions of people ... " when I read this my wife prodded me and said "billions and one"
"willingness to work in ambiguous situations"!
I feel that interest in classical music is probably irrelevant to this job. The job is about the best presentation of other people's ideas. But one could equally say that "passion for Apple" is irrelevant. It's a shame that that has to be mentioned, but perhaps it's boilerplate text (like the billions of people) that goes in all Apple job adverts.
"new perspectives for Primephonic" ... it does seem that the Primephonic brand may well live on
Let's hope that the fact that they're advertising now doesn't mean that things are not progressing as smoothly as they hoped.
This gives me hope! Hopefully, the UX designer gets clear instructions from the metadata/search people on the development team. If there's a core group of Primephonic people involved, we could end up with something decent.Β
Don't you think they should be asking us to beta test it?
Don't you think they should be asking us to beta test it?
What a great idea!
But do apps get beta tested in these days of frequent updates? Doesn't the beta testing in effect get done after release?
Let's hope the updates will be rather more frequent than they were on the old Primephonic and that they have an effective forum for users to discuss suggestions. I wonder whether there are any plans to resurrect the Community.
